When a surface has failed from the base up, we tear it out and start clean. Old asphalt removed, base rebuilt in lifts, fresh asphalt poured at full spec. The replacement is as strong as a brand-new install.

What actually goes into a residential driveway from M&S?
Most of the work on a new driveway happens before any asphalt is laid. The sequence is what separates a surface that lasts a decade from one that alligators and sinks in two seasons. We explain each step as the job progresses, because a homeowner spending this kind of money should understand exactly what is going into the ground under their pavement.
We also pay attention to the transitions. Where the driveway meets the garage slab and where it ties into the road are the two spots where water collects and edge cracking starts if the grade is not set correctly. Getting those details right is part of the job, not an add-on. Every residential project is backed by a one-year material warranty, and we walk the finished surface with you before we leave.
Clear and Grade
Area cleared to stable ground, then graded so the finished surface drains toward the street or yard, not against the house or garage.
Build the Road Base
Crushed concrete or lime rock laid and compacted in lifts. This is the foundation the driveway's lifespan depends on. We check it before any asphalt arrives.
Lay & Compact Asphalt
Two full inches, compacted with a roller. What was quoted is what gets poured. Heavier vehicles on the property are a reason to talk through additional depth at estimate time.

How does sealcoating fit into residential asphalt maintenance?
Sealcoating is what keeps a well-built driveway from becoming a replacement project ahead of schedule. A fresh sealcoat every two to three years blocks the UV, heat, and rain that age asphalt from the outside in, and it costs a fraction of repaving. The math on this is straightforward: recurring maintenance now, or a major project later.
For a driveway that is still structurally sound but going gray and showing fine cracks, sealing is the right move. We fill the cracks first so water cannot keep getting in under the new coat, then apply the sealcoat over a clean surface. The result is a driveway that is protected for another two to three years and looks like it was just paved.
We will also tell you when sealing is not the answer. If the base has failed and alligator cracking has spread, a coat of sealer hides the problem for a few months and then the surface continues to fall apart underneath. New Driveway Built
